This post covers the weather in April in Beijing, with tips on what to wear as well as things to do and is updated for 2020.

AVERAGE TEMPERATURES IN APRIL

April is a great time to explore Beijing! We’ve finally reached the end of the cold winter, and we can expect to see a lot more sunshine and do more outdoor activities.

Early this month, afternoon high temperatures tend to be in the mid-60s F (17-20 C) while early morning lows tend to me in the low 40s F (9 to 11 C). On a few of the colder mornings, temperatures can still dip down into to upper 30F (6 to -8 C).

The first third of March: 7 to 21 C (44 to 70 F)

The Middle third of March: 10 to 22 C (50 to 72 F)

The last third of March: 11 to 24 C (52 to 75 F)

As the month progresses, spring starts to grab a hold in the Big Apple as the afternoon temperatures rise into the low to 22 C (72 F) and morning lows creep up into the upper 10 C (10 F).

A few of the warmer afternoons can even see temperatures up to 25 C (77 F).

HOW MUCH RAIN IN April?

Beijing got most of the rain in Summer (July and August), we had not even a single rain day in 2018. So don’t worry about the rain or snow.

Do I Need an Umbrella in Beijing in April?

You’re much more likely to experience windy days than rainy days in April in Beijing. So you can use the space in your luggage for a light scarf instead of an umbrella.

WHAT TO WEAR IN APRIL

The weather can range from cool to warm, depending on the day and where you are in the City. Wind may also be a factor.

In the afternoons you can wear a T-shirt and shorts. Jeans and sweaters are still needed if it rains. For a bit more warmth, you can add a light jacket, which will feel nice for the cooler and windy areas.

But as always, don’t forget to pack some comfortable walking shoes.
